Erbium Laser Resurfacing and Micro Laser Peel Offer Options For All Skin Types
Adam J. Scheiner, M.D. Tampa, FL
Erbium Laser Resurfacing Dr. Scheiner is an experienced physician who can utilize the Erbium laser to improve skin texture and decrease wrinkles on the face, neck, and hands. The Erbium laser is similar to other skin resurfacing lasers except for a few improvements to the patient™s advantage. For example, the Erbium laser does not require use of full anesthesia and thus results in less pain and a shorter recovery period post-procedure. Furthermore, the ConBio Erbium laser provides results that are more precise than the regular Erbium laser for a better overall achievement of improvements. During the procedure Dr. Scheiner will pass a laser light of the treatment area and remove 30 millionths of an inch of tissue at a time. The treatment is effective due to the natural process of water in the skin to absorb light. As the laser light is absorbed into the body the affected cells are instantly vaporized thus allowing wrinkles and other skin flaws to literally disappear. New skin replaces the areas that are removed and the result is a younger, smoother skin texture. In general, the Erbium laser is more effective and causes less discomfort than other skin resurfacing lasers. However, Dr. Scheiner will discuss your specific case during a primary consultation to determine pain tolerance, goals, risks, and realistic outcomes for your skin. Treatment recovery time varies can take up to two weeks depending on the extent of treatment. Post-treatment skin care instructions will be provided so that you can protect the new skin as it grows and heals. Make sure you follow the instructions so that your recovery results in the finished appearance you expect to achieve. Micro Laser Peel Similar to the procedure described above is another technique that involves the Erbium laser – the Micro Laser Peel. This procedure allows Dr. Scheiner to help patients achieve immediate and lasting results that require minimal post-treatment care and has a low level of discomfort. A Micro Laser Peel uses less microns and is more of a "weekend peel," and can be scheduled on a Thursday or Friday so that you can go back to work on Monday. The MicroLaserPeel is effective because it removes only the outermost layers of the skin and pinpoints the specific problem areas experienced by the patient such as wrinkles, scars, keratoses, pigmentation problems, or general sun damage. Microdermabrasion is a similar procedure but the MicroLaserPeel takes off additional layers which translates into better overall results. Dr. Scheiner will provide a topical anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Once the procedure is over you will notice smoother, younger looking skin and best of all – no dressings or bandages are required. Dr. Scheiner will discuss post-treatment care with you before you leave so that you can protect the new skin, though for a few days afterwards you will feel as though you received a sunburn. Generally, one MicroLaserPeel treatment will last from six to 12 months but a discussion with Dr. Scheiner will answer this question with greater accuracy as every patient™s skin reacts slightly different to treatments. For a fresh new look take an afternoon to discuss the laser resurfacing procedures offered by Dr. Scheiner and his staff at the Tampa Eye Clinic. You will be surprised how easily and quickly you can drastically change the way others see you and get ready for some stares from strangers that you DO want to get!
